Gertie Iconic Story in Animation

Gertie Production, founded in Milan in 1993, is an independent audiovisual and animation production company specialised in fiction and non-fiction animation, cross-media and editorial projects. Its signature visual style, commitment to high-quality content, and mindfulness of social, cultural, and environmental issues have earned Gertie both national and international recognitions and a solid gold reputation for creativity and integrity.

Key awards were: Annecy '93 for Commercial Film, New York Festivals 2004 for “MILO”, European Film Academy 2009 for “Mia et le Migou”, and the 2015 ASPI at Castellinaria for “Iqbal: Tale of a Fearless Child”, highlighting its impact in the animation field.

One of the founder, Fulvia Serra, has previously played a pivotal role as managing director for iconic culture and comic magazines like Linus, Corto Maltese, Snoopy and Batman and was instrumental in publishing major European and American comic authors through the Publisher Milano Libri, under the RCS Editori Group, during the '80s and '90s

Gertie is a founding Partner of Cartoon Italia, part of the European Union's Cartoon platform, and is co-producing animation and cartoon series with RAI TV, RAI Fiction, and Rai Kids.

Business Model Canvas and Vision Workshop

We kicked off the design journey with a strategic approach, starting by mapping out the company’s business model canvas. We gathered together the founders, the CEO Franco Serra and Fulvia Serra and a group of employees in a series of quick and structured co-creation sessions to assess Gertie’s vision, purpose and core values, foster a sense of ownership and alignment among the team and generate momentum.

Brand and Stakeholder Map

We made a deep dive into Gertie’s core, crafting a visual map with their Brand and personal values, and a Stakeholder Map to understand who’s who in their ecosystem to engage their network and partnerships.

Guiding the UX Redesign & Tech Choices

These insights were critical for prioritising brand's messaging and content that really matter and guiding solid UX design and tech-stack decisions. In essence, this was about laying the groundwork for a brand and user experience that's not just authentic but also strategically aligned with everything Gertie represents.
