Stories of illness and disabilities in literature and comics
I attended a two-day international conference and exhibition organised by the PathoGraphics research group at Freie Universität Berlin. The programme examined the ethical, aesthetic, and political dimensions of illness and disability across medical, personal, and cultural contexts.
Bringing together perspectives from literary scholarship, comics studies, media studies, disability studies, the health humanities, sociology, and geography, the event opened up a rich interdisciplinary conversation on how illness and disability are represented and understood.
