Accessible Knowledge Platform & Venture Concept - Neues Script

A purpose-built platform for complex topic explainers in science, health, and technology: concept, brand, content model, designed with accessibility as a core product principle and built on Jamstack for web performance, and content autonomy.

Neues Script was conceived and built from scratch as a dedicated in-house experiment and a sub-venture within Neue Big to explore a dedicated space for knowledge and content work and topic explainers. The hypothesis: that complex ideas in science, health, and technology could be made genuinely accessible through better content design and digital experiences.

WHAT WE BUILT

  • Defined the venture concept, positioning, and content model from scratch, scoping the studio's focus areas, audience, and service offer.

  • Developed the brand identity and information architecture with accessibility as a foundational product constraint.

  • Defined product requirements and evaluation criteria for the technical stack, selecting Jamstack, Sanity.io for content, Eleventy to compile pages at build time, and Netlify for global deployment, prioritising performance, content autonomy, and low maintenance overhead.

  • Assembled a purpose-built team: an accessibility-specialist designer and an IAAP-certified web accessibility specialist for independent audit.

  • Performed an audit against WCAG 2.1 Level AA, implementing focus styles for keyboard navigation, a pause control for homepage animation, optimised heading structure, and semantic markers for active navigation links.

OUTCOME

A fully functioning independent digital venture, brand, website, content model, and accessibility infrastructure, designed, built, and audited to production standard. The site meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA and goes beyond compliance, embedding accessibility into every layer of the experience.
